Busy B & Her History

Busy B Errand Service got a gentle nudge to start from a strong Greek woman named Cynthia Sofianos. Being the Yiayia to 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren she has been a care taker my whole life. She seldom put herself first and made sure that the family was taken care of. Always. I will never forget her strength and love growing up.

When her health started to decline in early 2023, we knew it was time to have her move in with us. Mom gave up her office and Yiayia moved in that weekend.

It started off rough - microwave fires, 3 AM shouting about “the animals in her room” and an insatiable hunger that earned her the loving nick name Baby Bear. She was struggling - diagnosed with dementia, living with half lung capacity and a life long battle with severe depression. It was rough but it wasn’t all bad!

One night, Yiayia looks down at me as I’m putting her socks on for her and she smiles at me. I smile back at her and grab her hand.

“You’d make a great nurse, you know that?” she says with a grin. She leans down and pinches my cheek ( a good one as I recall) and we both laugh. I didn’t have the heart to tell her then that my several college attempts resulted in failure. But I knew she was onto something…

Since I was a kid, I’ve had a strong desire to help and give to others. That was passed down to me from my mom, Cathy, another strong Greek woman who would give you the shirt off her back if you asked.

Growing up I was encouraged to follow my dreams and reassured that I could do anything I set my mind to. I remember on career day, I always said I wanted to be in a profession where I could help- veterinarian, nurse, forensic scientist, psychologist - I just wanted to be helpful and give back. I felt supported but that didn’t always show in my school work. I was struggling. A LOT.

In September of 2024 I made a decision that changed my life. I had a meeting with a psychiatrist and within the first 20 minutes of our intro, was diagnosed with ADHD. Since then, my life has gotten tremendously easier and better!

I learned some tools to help me work WITH my brain, not against it. I took responsibility for my spirituality and started meditating and praying daily. I started journaling and really learned to trust myself and follow my intuition. I had a new energy for my life. I knew now that I wasn’t dumb or lazy, it was just ADHD.

Out and about one day, I popped into my favorite local thrift shop, Imagine…2nd Chance Treasures. I had been doing some soul searching earlier that day and chatted with the owner Terri about it. 3 tear filled hours later, I left with some thrifted treasures and a vision: I would start a local errand service for seniors. I would make a living doing what I love: helping others, giving back and being on the open road.

Since then, Busy B has grown to help senior living facilities bulk shop for residents, pickup and deliver for local businesses and offer professional organizing/cleaning and dump runs. Brittnee Budreaux will also become a licensed mobile notary in the near future- stay tuned!

I am thankful for my community of Auburn. I am thankful for my parents, Alan and Cathy who have supported me every step of the way. I am thankful for the opportunity to work and serve a community that I’ve grown up in.

Warmly,

Brittnee Budreaux
